India - Renew Trade License


Procedure

The application for renewal of the license is to be made within thirty days from the date of its expiry.

Apply In-Person:

  1. Applicant has to submit an application for renewal addressed to the Licensing authority of the concerned municipal corporation/municipality where the trade license was obtained.
  2. Go to the respective office.
  3. Collect the applicable application form or write on a plain A4 paper as per advice.
  4. Submit the completed application form along with required document. Please check the required documents section of this page.
  5. Authorities will check the submitted application and announce the fees / charges. Please pay and get the receipt.
  6. This application will be processed internally.
  7. Applicant gets notification from the department through their registered mobile number. So, please follow the department notification.
  8. On successful completion of the process, renewed trade license will be delivered as per applicable norms.

  • It is advised to submit additional set of copy of the documents and get counter signed for your safety while applying with government department..

  • Up to date property tax paid receipt.
  • ID Proof of the Applicant (PAN/DL/Passport/Bank Passbook)
  • Address Proof of the Applicant (DL/ Passport/Bank Passbook)
  • Passport Photograph (for single owner) or Jt. Photography (for Jt. Owners) as per requirement
  • Aadhaar Card

Instructions

  • Prescribed Form should be used for the Application.
  • Please fill the Application form completely and correctly.
  • The Trade License Number should be mentioned.
  • The name, address and other details of the establishment should be mentioned.
  • The reason(s) for obtaining a duplicate should be mentioned in the application form.
  • The reason(s) given for obtaining duplicate should be valid.
  • The FIR should be filed within one month after the loss of trade license.

Need for the Document

  • When there is a sudden inspection by the government, if the owner is found with an expired trade license, he will have to pay penalty. In order to avoid penalty, the owner should apply for renewal of trade license within thirty days from the date of its expiry.
  • A valid Trade license is mandatory.
  • A valid Trade license is required for a person to run his business legally.
  • It proves that the business complies with all the rules specified by the government.

If the Municipal Commissioner or the Executive Officer comes to know that any business premise is being used for a non-residential purpose without a license under the Act or if it does not comply with the terms of a license granted, he may stop the use of that particular premise for a specified period.
