In person: To obtain an International Driving Permit, submit a completed International Driving Permit DRV06 application together with a medical certificate. You will also need to submit a copy of your identity card and driving license along with your 2 passport-sized photos and payment.

Online: You may also submit your application online on mygov.mt using your e-id account.

An International Driving Permit is needed for driving within countries that are not Member States with the European Union, or that are not party to the Geneva Convention on Road Traffic.

If you are a holder of a Maltese Driving Licence, you will not need to obtain an IDP if you are planning to drive within the EU or within the countries that are party to the Geneva Convention on Road Traffic.
