Lebanon - Obtain International Driving License (IDL)


Procedure

  1. Go to a LibanPost Office and complete an application to obtain an IDL.
  2. Submit the completed form together with two colored photos of you and photocopies of your passport and driver's license.
  3. Pay the application fee.
  4. It will take about 5 working days for your application to be processed.

  3. Please select the appropriate plan that is suitable for you and click "Next" and follow the process to complete the application.


Required Documents

For Lebanese:

  • Written request
  • Two (2) colored pictures
  • Photocopy of valid Lebanese passport (regardless of its duration)
  • Photocopy of valid Lebanese driving license certified by a post employee
  • In case of renewal: International driving license issued by the Lebanese Automobile and Tourism Club


For foreign and Arab nationals:

  • Written request
  • Two (2) colored pictures
  • Photocopy of a valid foreign or Arab passport (regardless of its duration)
  • Photocopy of valid foreign or Arab driving license certified by a post employee
  • In case of renewal: International driving license issued by the Lebanese Automobile and Tourism Club

Eligibility

Lebanese and foreign and Arab nationals may apply for or renew an International Driving Licenses from the Lebanese Automobile and Tourism Club through LibanPost offices.

Validity

IDLs are not valid in an individual's country of residence. An IDL is valid for one year.

IDLs are not intended to replace valid Lebanese licenses and should only be used as a supplement to a valid license. Make sure than when you travel abroad you carry with you both your Lebanese Driver's License and your IDL.
