Birth registrations are conducted in municipal assemblies' respective offices where the child was born, this is also where the birth certificate will be issued.
Either of the child's parents can apply for the birth register if the parents are married, in cases where the parents are not married, both of them must be present to register the child's birth.
To register the child's birth, it is necessary to indicate the child's name and surname, and whether the surname is different from that of the father's.
A Birth Certificate states the name and sex of a person, it also indicate the time and place of birth, it is issued after you have registered the birth of a child. A copy of the birth certificate is often necessary when you apply for administrative procedures, such as civil marriage or getting a passport.
