All in-patient facilities must have a clearly defined method of waste disposal and management systems in place including incinerators, placenta pits etc.
The facility should be inspected by the County Director of Health or County Health Management Team or Joint Board and Council Inspection Team.
It may be a requirement from other Health Regulatory Authorities to obtain their licenses for other facilities: e.g. Laboratory, Pharmacy, Radiology and X-ray Services etc.

The application form must be returned to the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board within a period not exceeding three months from the date of issue. Applications which are not returned within the stipulated period shall be time barred.
Doctors and dentists aspiring to practice in Kenya must comply with the statutory requirements for registration and licensing. Failure to obtain the necessary documentations constitutes an offence under section 22 of the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Act. Detailed information on documentation can be accessed via the Boards website and from the Boards offices.
It shall be the duty of every practitioner to practise in medical clinics, dental clinics and health facilities approved by the Board.
Every institution or practitioner shall be required to employ duly licensed and or retained practitioners, as the case may be.
Home visits will require the practitioner to be duly registered and licensed to indulge in private practice as prescribed by law.
Mobile clinics shall be required to be registered and licenced by the Board.
There shall be notification at least two (2) weeks of intent to hold any medical and/or dental camp to the Board and to the PDMS/PDPHS.

The Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board is a statutory authority established under Cap 253 Laws of Kenya to regulate the practice of medicine and dentistry in the country.
