Apply In-Person

1. To apply for an International Driver’s License in Jamaica you must be a holder of a valid Jamaican Driver’s License and you should submit your complete application to the Tax Administration Jamaica collectorate offices. Please view the Jamaican Tax Office contact details via this link: Link
2. Obtain the application form for the IDL in advance through the Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) website:Link (Application for International Driving Permit) or download it directly via this link:Link
3. Complete the application form correctly and obtain one recent passport-size photograph and attach it to the form
4. Visit the Tax office and submit your Jamaican Driver’s License along with the complete application with your passport-size photo to the assisting officer for verification
5. The official will validate your application and upon satisfactory verification, the application will be forwarded for processing
6. Then you will be issued an IDL valid for one year or until your Driver’s license expires, whichever comes first
   

Note that there is no extra cost to obtain an International Driver's Licence.

• The International Driver’s license allows motorists to drive vehicles in foreign countries.
• A holder of a valid Jamaican driver's license who needs to operate a motor vehicle in a foreign country will need to have an International Driver's Permit.
• No foreigner is allowed to drive a motor vehicle on road in Jamaica unless he is the holder of a valid IDL endorsed in respect of that class of vehicle.
• The IDL shows compliance with Jamaica’s traffic laws regarding driving.
