1. Application for international driving license in Ethiopia is available in the Ethiopian Road Transport Authority contact link
2. Applicant must enter all necessary information requested in the application form.
3. Documents that are needed for completing application procedure are listed under “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. Applicant must carry both photocopies and originals of all those documents while applying for this procedure.
5. Attach photocopies of documents along with the application form (whichever is necessary).
6. Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per authority’s request.
7. If all necessary information is provided along with the needed documents, applicant can get their international driving license within 7 to 14 days by visiting the office or via post.

Citizens of Ethiopia and Permanent residents of Ethiopia who own a driving license of their own and are above 18 years of age are eligible.

Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per authority’s request.

International Driving License is valid for 1, 2 or 3 years.

International Driving License is necessary for driving motor vehicles in foreign countries without obtaining a local driving license from that country.

If an application is not completed and submitted incomplete, then, the application will be rejected by concerned authorities.

This international driving license can be used as a proof of identity all over the world.
