Apply In-Person

1. Obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP) from an associated member of the Australian Automobile Association (AAA).
2. Complete an application and submit it along with your recently taken passport-style photo (5cm x 6cm).
3. Present your current driver's license.
4. Pay the application fee.

International Driving Permits (IDPs) are issued in all States and territories of Australia by the relevant automobile associations.

Remember that you must bring along your driving license issued in Australia during your trip abroad. The IDP is only a translation of your local driving license, you must be able to present both at all times.
