Procedure

Please contact you local traffic police office who should be able to guide you or help you in getting an International Driver License (IDl).

Eligibility

• Unfortunately, Sudan did not sign neither 1949 (Geneva), nor 1968 (Vienna) UN Conventions on Road traffic. This means IDL issued to a holder of driving license issued in Sudan formally may not be recognized by the authorities of other countries. The same thing is true for holders of IDL travelling in Sudan.
• The only solution to this situation is purely diplomatic (sign the UN Conventions, preferably both) and outside of reach for ordinary people.
• Alternative solution is to obtain a driving license of one of the neighboring countries who are consignees of the Conventions.
