Spain - Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate (Criminal Record Certificate)

PROCESS FOR CITIZENS & NON CITIZENS OF SPAIN – FOR BOTH WHO LIVE IN SPAIN AND OVERSEAS:

I. Apply in Spain

a. Apply In-Person

Applicant shall apply at the ‘Central Office of Citizen Services’ Or ‘Territorial Managements of the Ministry of Justice’ as per their applicable province.

Go to the respective office.
Submit your completed application along with required document and fees to the respective officer for process. Applicant shall mention about how he/she want the delivery of certificate to be, while applying.
Applicant shall also designate a person to apply and pay the fees on his/her behalf. Designate should carry ID proof along with the authenticated designation letter (for abroad applicant embassy will authenticate).
The certificate can be collected from the office where applicant applied in-person upon notification or issued as per norms.

b. Mail(Post)

Applicant should complete the application form, attach certified copies of required documents along with document justifying fees paid for applying through mail.

For those applying from other countries for criminal record certificates shall mail it to:

4. Once the certificate is ready, it will be sent by mail to the address you specify or as per norms.

c. Through Online - Spain Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate (Criminal Record Certificate) Online with Images

Please use the following link Online Portal Link to reach online applying page.
In the given page please select “Processing on-line with CL@VE” option under “Application for the digital Criminal Records certificate” to reach next page.
Please select the identification method as appropriate for you. Please select applicable option to complete the preliminary process for getting the online application page. For instance select “Access” under “eldentifier” option.

In the given online application page, please fill in the prompted details for applicant information, address, communication etc. Complete the other page prompts and follow the tab as applicable to complete the online application process.

After the certificate is ready, it will be sent via e-mail ID as provided by applicant while applying and can be downloaded.
If for some reason it is not possible to issue the certificate electronically you will be notified.

Note

The criminal record certificate must be legalized if it is to have validity outside of Spain. Select the option of apostle in the application of your certificate.

Required DocumentsEdit

Country specific

Two copies of your ID or Passport. One certified by a notary and the other in blank.
A Money Order or Certified Check in favor of the Consulate General of Spain from that respective country.
A pre-paid envelope for the return of any courier company, with the destination address duly completed.
Valid respective “National Identification Card”
Document that justifies the payment of the fee.
Authorized “copy of administration” of the form 790.
Proof of bank transfer got – “Ministry of Justice - Restricted Account Collection Foreign Taxes”

Foreign national

A copy of your passport while living in Spain.
A copy of your permit of stay in Spain, passport number and place of issue as well.

EligibilityEdit

Applicant with valid passport and a valid address proof.
The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

Authorities will be able to provide details of the fees for appropriate requirements.
Fee varies for case to case. Updated fee requirement will be provided by respective authorities while applying.

ValidityEdit

As indicted on the certificate otherwise, it will be valid for 3 months.
Validity norms vary from country to country.

Processing TimeEdit

Under normal circumstances the certificate will be issued in 24 hours after the application is made.
In certain cases this period may be prolonged, but generally no longer than 3 working days. (the deadline the Administration has for issuing is 10 working days from the date the application is received).
Processing time varies with respect to the country from where applied.

InstructionsEdit

Submitting the application form 790 is mandatory when requesting the certificate in person or by mail. This form must not be photocopied since it has a unique number code for each request.
When your download is ready, you have a period of 90 calendar days to download the certificate failure to which, you must re-apply. For downloading apostilled certificates, the time is reduced to 25 calendar days.
