Macau - Obtain an International Driver Permit / License (IDL, IDP)

Procedure

1. To apply for an International Driving License visit the Transport Bureau (China Plaza) Office.
2. Application forms to obtain an IDL are available at the service counters of the Bureau or you may download on from their website (link is provided under 'Documents to Use' section).
3. Present the original copy of your valid identity card and valid Macao Driving license. You will also be asked to submit a photocopy of your identity card and license.
4. You also need to submit two 1.5 inches recent color photos (with white background).
5. Pay the application fee / taxes.
6. The license is released within one day. Note:The service time is available for applications filed before 16:00, and all the required documents were submitted.

Eligibility

Motorists who are intent on driving in countries/regions other than Macao SAR may apply for an International Driving License.

Fees

• Charges (or Taxes): MOP600
• Additional fee for urgent pick-up : MOP400
• Fee for the form: Free of charge
• Stamp Duty: No stamp duty
• Deposit: No deposit necessary

Validity

The validity of the Macao international driving license is pursuant to the valid date of the Macao driving license, but not more than one year.

IDLs are not intended to replace valid Macau driver's licenses and should only be used as a supplement to a valid license. Make sure that when you travel abroad you carry with you both your Macau Driver's License and your IDL.
