1. The application for registering a Trade Mark should be made through the Department of Deeds Companies & Intellectual Property.
2. First, an application for registration of a trade mark must be filed with the national trade mark office, which in this case is the Zimbabwe Intellectual Property Office.
3. The application must contain 10 clear reproductions of the mark filed for registration, including any colours, forms, devices or three-dimensional features.
4. The application must also contain a list of goods or services to which the mark would apply. The mark must fulfill certain conditions in order to be protected as a trade mark or service mark.
5. The application should be made with Form T.M 5 which can be obtained from the office and 10 identical logos and US$200.00.
6. After the application is submitted , a search for the similar kind of logo is done, just to make sure a duplicate or a close match of another is not already registered.
7. If no match has been found an advertisement is placed in a journal for a fee, if there is no opposition for the trademark to be registered, the registration is made.
