1. To change the ownership of the vehicle, you have to approach the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) of Zambia.
2. Make sure the owner who is requesting for temporary registration has all the documents that are listed under the Required Documents section of this page.

• ZRA Customs Clearance Certificate
• Receipts and invoices including the bills of lading as proof of purchase of the motor vehicle.
• Personal identification documents of the person undertaking temporary registration.
• Physical Examination report from RTSA signifying that the vehicle is roadworthy to be on Zambian roads.

• Your vehicle should be a second had vehicle.
• The vehicle should be have been imported from a foreign country.

The temporary registration can be obtained at a charge of K77, 000.00 and if one fails to extend a penalty charge of K260, 000.00 is charged for each month that passes.

• For all second hand vehicles with the exception of those bonded and those held under the motor vehicle dealership licence, permanent registration will only be effected by a registration officer upon submission of proof of having paid for temporary registration.
