1. To request a search for a Trade Mark registration in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA). Please tap on the following link to view contact details link.
2. Make sure to have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
3. An application form will be provided to the applicant upon visiting the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) office.
4. Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form.
5. Upon receipt of an application for the registration of a trade mark in respect of any goods, the Registrar will cause a search to be made amongst the registered marks.
6. The search will take place in pending applications as well, for the purpose of ascertaining whether there are records in respect of the same goods or description of goods.
7. Any marks identical with the mark applied for, or so nearly resembling it as to render the mark applied for are likely to deceive or cause confusion, the Registrar may cause the search to be renewed at any time before the acceptance of the application.
8. After the completion of search, the trademark may be accepted or rejected.
