Apply In-Person:

1. To obtain an import declaration fee refund in Zambia, the applicant will have to visit the department of Zambia Revenue Authority, for the main office visit link.
2. Make sure to have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
3. An application form will be provided to the applicant upon visiting the department of Revenue Authority.
4. Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form, find application form on page 54 of this pdf file: form.
5. Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
6. Pay the fee as given in the “Fees” section of this page.
7. After the completion and verification of all the documents, the refund will be accessible.
8. The applicant will get the payment in the bank account provided with application form in a stipulated period of time.

• An application for a refund must be filled within 2 years from the date of the event giving cause for the refund.
• Not more than one application for a refund may be made by an importer in a calendar month. Copies of all documentation relevant to the refund must be attached.
• An authorised representative of the importer must sign the application for refund.

The permit allows the holder to get the money back which is already paid to avail an import declaration form.

• Unsigned applications will be returned.
• In those situations where the importer requests an offset against the fee payable on another IDF for the import of goods, the properly completed IDF and a proforma must be attached along with a brief letter requesting the offset.
• Every effort will be made to process the refund and offset it against the applicable fee promptly, however, importers must attach all documentation necessary to verify the amount of the fee that is refundable.
