Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for a Radio and Television Broadcasting License in Zambia, the applicant has to visit the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services, for the main office visit link.
2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
3. Fill the application form provided to you in the Information and Broadcasting services office after understanding guidelines properly.
4. The applicant is required to advertise in two most widely read newspapers that you are applying to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services to establish a radio or television broadcasting station and name the town where the station will be located.
5. Afterwards attach two cuttings of the adverts to the application form.
6. Submit the application with necessary attachments to the office.
7. Pay as per detail in the “Fees” section of this page.
8. After the completion and verification of all the documents, the permit will be accessible.
9. The applicant gets the permit in a stipulated period of time.

• A project proposal.
• A certificate of registration or incorporation if applicable.
• A map of the coverage area.
• A list of fixed and movable assets and their cost.
• A memorandum of Understanding if applicable.
• A letter confirming whether you will be using your own buildings or renting buildings for your radio or television studios.
• A certificate from Civil Aviation allowing you to put up a mast.
• A bank statement proving you have not less than K60 million in your account.

• Foreign investors are required to partner with Zambians on the basis of 75 / 25 percent shareholding with the Zambian partner(s) holding majority shares.

• Name(s) of applicant(s).
• Notification address.
• Other relevant info supporting the application.

• The permit allows the holder to join industry and provide employment to fellow citizens through commercial broadcasting.

• Community broadcasting is restricted to given geographical areas to ensure that stations cater for the interest of any given community.
• The programming should be in accordance with the type of license. Following licenses can be obtained:
• Commercial Radio Stations
• Commercial Television Stations
• Community Radio Stations
• Religious Radio Stations
