Zambia - Obtain Waste Management License


Procedure

Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for a waste management license in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Environmental management agency of Zambia, for the main office visit link.
  2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. Fill the application form provided to you in the Environmental management agency after understanding the guidelines properly, download the form here form.
  4. Submit the application with necessary attachments to the office.
  5. Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  6. Upon the satisfaction of the authorities, a provisional certificate will be accessible.
  7. The applicant gets the license in around 60 days.

  • Information about reclaiming, reusing, recovery or recycling of waste.
  • Details about collecting and disposal of waste from industrial, commercial, domestic or community activities.
  • Details about transportation of waste to disposal sites.
  • Details about ownership, construction or operation of a waste disposal site or other facility for the permanent disposal or storage of waste.
  • Details about transit, trade in or export of waste.

Eligibility

  • The license will be provided if at least one of the condition is satisfied
  • Suspension is necessary to prevent or mitigate an imminent risk of significant adverse effects to the environment or to human health occurring.
  • Require the applicant to take specific measures to prevent or abate any adverse effect.

  • Application fee: Pay as per the authority’s request.




Validity

  • This licence is valid for 10 years.

Instructions

  • The license will be cancelled if provider is caught guilty of one of the following:
  • Giving false information.
  • Transferring license without approval.
  • Failing to comply with an enforcement notice.
  • Failing to comply with provisions of the WSS Act or license conditions.
  • Failing to provide WSS service according to SLG.
