• Application with a full description with geographical coordinates of the area of land over which the licence is sought but not exceeding 29,940 cadastre units and represented by complete and not partial cadastre units.
• A statement of the minerals that are going to be searched.
• An environmental management plan including a proposal for the prevention of pollution, the treatment of waste, the protection and reclamation of land and water resources, for eliminating or minimizing the adverse effects on the environment or prospecting operations.
• The proposed prospecting operations and an indication of the investment commitment in the proposed prospecting operations.
• The applicant's proposals with respect to the employment and training of citizens of Zambia.
• The applicant's proposals for the promotion of local business development.
• A tax clearance certificate.
• Any other information as may be prescribed by the Minister.
• Proof of adequate financial resources, technical competence and experience to carry on effective prospecting operations.
• Programme of prospecting operation is adequate and makes proper provision for environmental protection.
• Proof of written consent if the land is within a National Park,Game Management Area, National Forest or Local or is a Bird Sanctuary.
• Proposed prospecting area, mining area or permit area.
• If the applicant is a holder that the applicant has not contravened the conditions of the licence, permit.

i. Year 1 and 2 ZMK 10,080 per Sq.Km per year.
ii.Year 3 and 4 ZMK 20,120 per Sq.Km per year.
iii. Year 5 and 6 ZMK 40,320.per Sq. Km per year.
iv. Year 7 onwards ZMK 80,640. per Sq.Km per year

2 years, subject to renewal but total maximum period cannot exceed seven years
