Apply via Agent
Apply In Person:
- To Apply for Mining License or Permit, the applicant has to approach the Department of Immigrations link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- The officer will conduct a site inspection to verify the information provided in the application and assess the environmental impact of the mining operation.
- Once the permit is approved, the applicant will need to collect the license from the office.
- This entire process can be completed within 15 - 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
Required Documents
- A valid passport with at least two blank pages
- Two passport-sized photographs
- Proof of financial support (such as a bank statement or pension statement)
- A police clearance certificate from the applicant’s home country
- A medical certificate from a recognized medical practitioner in Zambia
- A letter of intent stating why the applicant wishes to retire in Zambia
- A lease or deed indicating the applicant’s place of residence in Zambia Application form

Eligibility
To qualify for a Retirement Residency Permit or Visa, the applicants must meet certain criteria, including:
- Being over the age of 50 years
- Having a monthly income of at least USD 2,500 or a lump sum investment of at least USD 50,000
- Providing a clear criminal record and medical certificate
- Providing proof of accommodation in Zambia
Fees
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
Validity
- The visa is valid for 2 years.
