Apply In Person:

1. To Apply for Mining License or Permit, the applicant has to approach the Department of Immigrations link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
7. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
8. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
9. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
10. The officer will conduct a site inspection to verify the information provided in the application and assess the environmental impact of the mining operation.
11. Once the permit is approved, the applicant will need to collect the license from the office.
12. This entire process can be completed within 15 - 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

• A valid passport with at least two blank pages
• Two passport-sized photographs
• Proof of financial support (such as a bank statement or pension statement)
• A police clearance certificate from the applicant’s home country
• A medical certificate from a recognized medical practitioner in Zambia
• A letter of intent stating why the applicant wishes to retire in Zambia

To qualify for a Retirement Residency Permit or Visa, the applicants must meet certain criteria, including:

• Being over the age of 50 years
• Having a monthly income of at least USD 2,500 or a lump sum investment of at least USD 50,000
• Providing a clear criminal record and medical certificate
• Providing proof of accommodation in Zambia
