Zambia - Apply Residence Permit for Parents


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for a Residence Permit for parent(s) in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Immigration office, please tap on the following link to view contact details: link.
  2. Please make sure to have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. Upon visiting, the applicant will be provided with an application form to be filled in the immigration office.
  4. Once understanding the guidelines properly, the applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form.
  5. Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
  6. Pay the fee as given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  7. After the completion and verification of all the documents, the visa will be accessible.
  8. Collect the visa from the office or wait for the visa to arrive via post on the postal address in a stipulated time.




Required Documents

  • Documentary evidence of financial support (financially dependent applicants).
  • Completion of application form.
  • Two recent certified passport size photographs.
  • Certified copy of Marriage Certificate (if married).
  • Photocopies of previous and current passport.
  • Supporting letter from the parents/guardian.
  • Certified copy of Aliens/Commonwealth Registration card.
  • Cover letter to the Director General of immigration.
  • Proof of relationship (Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate).
  • Prescribed fee receipt.

Parent(s) of any person who have been ordinarily and lawfully residents in Zambia.

Application fee: K 5000.00.


Validity

Residence Permit is valid for 10 years.

Instructions

A residence permit shall cease to be valid if the holder—

  • Fails to enter Zambia within six months of the date of issue of the permit or such later date as the Director General of Immigration may endorse on the residence permit.
  • Is absent from Zambia for a period in excess of six months without notifying the Director-General of Immigration, in writing, that that person proposes to return to Zambia
  • Is absent from Zambia for any period in excess of twelve months.
