Secure Evidence of Identity

Yukons new secure drivers licence and general identification card is accepted throughout North America. The information the card carries is trusted to represent the cardholder's identity. During the application process, applicants present documents that meet national standards, and Yukon government staff verifies the evidence of residency and identity.The new secure cards meet North American standards for secure government-issued ID, and the application process meets standards set by the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA).





Required Documents

Proving your identityEdit

  • photo and signature
    • Bring at least one of these: Canadian driver's licence, passport, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) documents or secure Indian status card
  • date of birth
    • Bring at least one of these: Canadian birth certificate, CIC documents, or secure Indian status card
  • current legal name
    • Bring your Canadian birth certificate, valid passport or permanent resident card


Proving Yukon ResidencyEdit

Bring your valid Yukon health care card.

Plus, bring one of these:

  • legal rental agreement or mortgage papers
  • bank statement or credit card bill addressed to you at your Yukon address
  • letter from your Yukon employer written on company letterhead
  • utility bill addressed to you at your Yukon address such as; Northwestel for cable or a land line (not a cell phone), or a Yukon electric bill.
