Wisconsin - Obtain a Marriage License


Procedure

  1. Go to the county clerk office.
  2. Present and submit documents required.
  3. Complete the application form.
  4. Pay the marriage license fee.

Eligibility

  • Minimum age to marry is 18 years old.
  • If either of the applicants are under 18 years old, a parental or guardian consent is required.




Fees

Marriage License Fee: $110.00




Validity

The marriage license is valid for 30 days. The license can only be used within the State of Wisconsin.

Instructions

  • Both parties must be present when applying for a marriage license.
  • The consent form must be completed, signed, and notarized. This form is available in the Office of the County Clerk.
  • The marriage license application must apply no more than 30 days prior to the wedding date but no later than 6 days prior to the wedding.
  • Any document not in English must have attached to it a certified or notarized translation.
