Western Australia - Apply for a Student Identification (ID) Card

Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for a Student Identification (ID) Card, the applicant has to approach the respective college or University.
  2. Before the applicant can apply for a student ID card, the applicant needs to enroll in an Australian educational institution. This can be a university, college, vocational school, or school, depending on your level of study.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  7. Go to the campus ID card office or designated location where student ID cards are issued. The location should be specified by the institution.
  8. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  9. There is no fee for student identification ID in Australia.
  10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  11. All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
  12. The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
  13. Once the process is completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  14. Upon approval, the applicant will receive a card from the office.
  15. The card will typically include your name, photo, student ID number, and the institution's logo.
  16. Follow any instructions provided to activate and use your student ID card to access campus facilities, services, and benefits.
  17. This entire process can be completed within 15 - 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
