1. Access E-Certification through OSPIs Education Data System (EDS) Portal.
2. After creating an account in EDS, select E-Certification (it will take approximately 15 minutes to have these options available after creating the account). The link will take you to E-Certification homepage.

Paper Application

1. If you are eligible to renew your initial teaching certificate you will need to get in touch with the Professional Certification Office (contact information is provided below).
2. Call the office and ask for a paper application.
3. Details about the documents needed and process to obtain the certificate will be on the form.

Check the status of your application online:

1. Log in to EDS:
   1. If you are using EDS for the first time you will need to create an account - Instructions (PDF)
   2. If you already have an account, simply log-in using your current account and password; do not create a duplicate account.
2. Click View My Applications.
3. Select E-Certification.
4. Select the My Credentials tab.
5. View the status of your application (Pending, Open, Re-Opened, Closed).

List down the documents required for successfully completing the procedure.

• Applicant must hold a valid initial teaching certificate, OR if the initial certificate has expired as of 9/1/2000 or later and you met requirements for renewal before expiration, you can apply late (with a $100 late fee). If you did not meet requirements before expiration, or your initial expired before 9/1/00, you will need to follow procedure on Conversion to Residency Certificate
• You may renew the initial certificate (only once) after 9/1/00
• Must have completed all course work requirements for the continuing certificate OR
• Must have completed 15 quarter hours (10 semester hours) of study since the issuance of the MOST RECENT initial certificate

It normally takes 4-6 weeks to process an application.
