Uttarakhand - Change Address in Ration Card


Procedure

Apply In-Person

  1. Ration Card holder shall approach their respective ration office Or the Clerk at District Supply Office (DSO) for urban area and Gram Panchayat Officer (GPO) in the rural areas as applicable to change address in the ration card.

Procedure for Local transfer

  1. Applicant must be from the same Urban Local Body or Gram Panchayat.
  2. Applicant submits the application to DSO/GPO.
  3. SI/GPO checks and verifies the details in the master register and updates the FPS for the applicant in the register.
  4. Clerk/GPO makes a new ration card and issues to the applicant.



Procedure for transfer between Gram Panchayats/Urban Local Bodies

  1. A citizen has to surrender his ration card to the DSO of his area for acquiring a surrender certificate.
  2. After getting the surrender certificate from DSO, one has to submit the surrender certificate to DSO of his new are. In case of rural, applicant gets it done through GPO.



Procedure for getting Surrender Certificate

For Urban area
  1. Applicant submits the Application form along with ration card to clerk.
  2. Clerk checks the application form & required supporting documents and gives an acknowledgement receipt to the applicant.
  3. SI complete entries in master Register & Shop Register.
  4. SI Sends information to the concerned local Fair Price shop.
  5. Surrender Certificate issued to the Applicant.



For Rural Area

  1. Applicant submits the Application form along with ration card to GPO.
  2. GPO checks the application form & required supporting documents and gives an acknowledgement receipt to the applicant.
  3. GPO complete entries in master Register & Shop Register.
  4. GPO sends information to the concerned local Fair Price shop.
  5. Surrender Certificate issued to the Applicant.

Eligibility

  • A valid ration card holder.
  • The applicant and his/her family must be Indian citizens and should be resident of the state.
  • The applicant or his family members must not possess any family card in any State in India (If they had one, it has to be withdrawn).
  • The applicant and members of the family must be close relatives.
  • New born above 5 years
  • Addition of member name after marriage

Validity

  • Usually Family identity card is valid for lifetime and will be renewed in 5 years or based on announcement.

Need for the Document

  • For implementation of the Targeted Public Distribution System(TPDS), Ration Card is being issued to all the heads of families, with details about family members included in the card. Based on their economic condition, people can buy goods like food grains, sugar and kerosene with the help of their ration cards.
  • Ration card is a mandatory document for all individuals in India. Addition of members should be made in order to avail the government benefits. It has to be renewed before it gets expired.
  • Ration card is essential to apply for passport, PAN card or a domicile certificate or to even get the name registered for electoral rolls to get a Voter ID.
