1. To Apply for Food Canning Registration online, the applicant can make the application online via FIS Web site at link
2. The applicant can login by entering their personal FDA Account ID and password to access the FIS electronic portal. If the applicant doesn’t have an account, select Account Management Help, and follow the instructions for obtaining an FDA Account ID and password.
3. After logging in the system will display the AF/LACF Main Menu.
4. The applicant has to select “Register Food Canning Establishment” from the AF/LACF Main Menu.
5. The system will navigate to the next screen, where it asks if there is a current FCE number for the establishment location to be registered.
6. The registration process consists of 6 – steps.
7. The applicant has to enter the FFR number and PIN and select one of the following positions from the drop-down menu: Owner, Technologist, Manager, Director, President/Vice President, Other Employee, or Authorized Third Party.
8. The name of the food processes plant at the location and the country or area where the food processing plant is located, the physical address of the food processing plant at the location being registered. Zip or other Postal Code.
9. The applicant has to enter data entry fields to create a list of all the AF and/or LACF products that are manufactured, processed, or packed at the FCE location.
10. Then the applicant has to enter establishment Contact Person of the electronic registration system has data entry fields for contact information for the ECP. An informational message alerts the user that the electronic AF/LACF system automatically enters the contact information for the ECP from the ECP’s FDA Account for the FIS electronic portal.
11. To finish entering registration information, read the statements on the screen in Click the “I understand” box and select Continue.
12. After all information is correct, select Submit.
13. The processing time for this procedure is takes up to 30 days.

1. To Apply for Food Canning Registration, the applicant has to approach the DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES Food and Drug Administration link

• All facilities that manufacture, process, pack, or hold food for human or animal consumption in the United States are required to register with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but food facilities that work with Acidified or Low Acid canned foods are considered to be Food Canning Establishments (FCE) and need an additional registration. If an FCE does not follow FDA registration and process filing requirements, FDA may detain the facility’s Low Acid or Acidified foods at the point of entry until the products are brought into compliance, destroyed, or re-exported.
