Uganda - Convert or Exchange Foreign Driver License


Procedure

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Pick up the application form [this form is NOT for sale] from any of these places; TLB branch offices, Banks, Face Technologies Offices and or download it from the URA Portal on this linkAppllication
  2. Fill the application form, sign it and ensure you are examined by a registered medical practitioner for physical examination
  3. Then go to TLB office for the process of verification of your foreign permit
  4. Go to the bank (of your choice) and pay appropriate URA Fees for Permit Exchange, fee to URA account (the bank will provide the account number)
  5. Go to Face Technologies Office with the bank receipt, together with your existing permit (the one you want to Exchange)
  6. Face will capture your Biometric features and then proceed to pay the required fee (cash) to Face Technologies for Permit production
  7. Face Technologies will issue the New Permit after payment of the required fee

  • Application fees i.e. bank slip and cash
  • Application Form TR VII
  • Form UCDPI (Medical form)

  • Foreigner drivers with a valid driver’s licences from their home country

Fees

Convert or exchange foreign drivers licences fees (URA)

  • 1year = 55,000 UGsh
  • 3years = 150,000 UGsh

Convert or exchange foreign driver’s licences fees (face technology)

  • 1year =60,000 UGsh
  • 3years = 60,000 UGsh

Validity

  • Convert or exchange of a foreign drivers licences validity varies depending on the duration you pick i.e. between 1 and 3 year

Instructions

  • Foreigners who wish to drive in Uganda are required by law to convert or exchange their home country valid driver licences if their don’t have a valid international drivers licences (IDL)
  • Foreigners who have a valid IDL are required by law to always have a valid driver’s licences from their home country to be able to drive in Uganda

Required Information

  • Full names of the applicant
  • Driver’s licences number
  • Date/place of issue your foreign drivers licences
  • Nationality
  • Gender
  • Date of birth/place/age


Need for the Document

  • Foreigners who wish to drive in Uganda are required by law to convert or exchange their home country valid driver licences or an expired IDL, if their don’t have a valid international drivers licences(IDL)
