Uganda - Apply for Real Estate License


Procedure

Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for Real Estate License, the applicant has to approach the Uganda Real Estate Institute.
  2. Attend a training course recognized by the UREI for the type of license.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
  7. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  8. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  10. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  11. Then the application will be processed further.
  12. The applicant will be required to pass a licensing exam administered by the UREI.
  13. The exam tests the applicant's knowledge of the legal and ethical aspects of the real estate industry.
  14. Once the applicant has passed the exam, he/she will be issued a real estate license.
  15. This entire process can be completed within 25 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

  • A Real Estate License in Uganda is a document that authorizes an individual or entity to engage in real estate activities such as sales, brokerage, and property management. The license is issued by the Uganda Real Estate Institute (UREI), which is the regulatory body responsible for the registration and licensing of real estate agents, brokers, and property managers in Uganda.
