• To apply for up gradation of your Driver License in Tripura the applicant has to approach the RTO office of the area.
  
• Information related to the RTO offices and licensing authority can be obtained from the “Office and Location” Section of this page.
  
• You will have to submit Application in Form No.8 in front of licensing authority.
  
• Application form no 8 can be downloaded from following link: Form no 8
  
• Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
  
• Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  
• Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  
• For addition of new class of vehicle in your Driver License you will be requested to bring your own vehicle where you will be tested for your driving skills.
  
• If the testing authority is satisfied with your driving skills a driving license will be provided.

Apply Online -- Tripura Online Upgrade Driver License with Images

1. In order to apply for online, please follow the link : online portal
2. Please select "Online Services" from the menu and click on "Driver License Related Services".
3. You will be taken to a new screen where you have to select “Tripura” in the drop down menu against “Please select the State from where the service is to be taken”.
4. In next step select the RTO from where the service is to be taken.
   
5. Once you select the RTO office, you will be redirected to the page, based on your selection Home page
   
6. Click on apply online
   
7. From the given options select “Services on Driving license (Renewal/Duplicate)”, you will be redirected to instructions page.
   
8. You can click on “continue” to move to the application form.
   
9. Fill the Applicant Details as instructed and required.
   
10. Upload Photo and Signature if required (applicable for only some states)
    
11. Book Test Slot for addition of the vehicle in the driving license
    
12. Pay the required fees
    
13. The applicant, who holds a valid Licence and learner license for additional vehicle is eligible to appear for the test of competence.
    
14. The test of competence will be conducted by the competent authority.
    
15. The applicant should bring a vehicle of the type to which the application relates.
    
16. The applicant should satisfy the officer conducting the test regarding his capability to drive the vehicle and his ability to perform the tasks.
    
17. The candidate who passes the test of competence successfully will be issued with a driving licence and sent through speed post to the address furnished.
    
    

Printing application

1. You can take printout of online application form with the help of the link: please follow the link Online portal
   
2. Select “Gujarat” in the drop down menu against “Please select the State from where the service is to be taken”.
   
3. In the next window, please click “Download Forms” to select “Print application form” option.
   
4. Please enter your application number in the next window and hit” Submit” follow the next window to get the printout.

2. Please click “Appointment (Slot Booking)” to select “services on driving license” option
   
3. In the new window fill in required details and hit Submit to process your request to book appointment.

• A person holding a driving licence for Motor Cycle may similarly apply for addition of a light motor vehicle at any time.
  
  

• Addition of another class of vehicle to Driving License: Rs. 500/-

• License to drive a Non-Transport Vehicle is valid for 20 years from the date of issue or until the holder attains the age of 50 years, whichever is earlier. After that, the License is renewed every 5 years.
  
• Transport Vehicle License is valid for a period of 3 years from the date of issue or renewal.
