Apply In-Person:
- To renew the lodging licence, a valid licence holder shall apply with the authority of the respective police station from whom the licence was obtained.

- Please visit the respective office.
- Meet the respective authority at the office to get details of any updates on renewal process.
- Collect the application form from the concerned authority or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
- Complete the application form. Also, write a covering letter mentioning the renewal requirement. Attach the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it to the designated receiving authority.
- After receiving the application, authorities will check the submitted application and documents. If all are in place, the application will be accepted. Please pay the application fees/charges as applicable and don’t forget to take the receipt. Please keep it safe for future reference.
- Authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using the computer.
- This application will be processed further. Concerned authorities will verify the applicant’s details and documents to make sure that the applicant/business entity is not convicted and there is no offence recorded or not sentenced under any punishable imprisonments.
- ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile or applicant gets a call from the police station about the application status.
- Once verified, this application will be forwarded to the inspection team / authority for inspection and verification.
- On a scheduled date, the concerned authority will inspect the premises and make verification of the facts as per the application form. The inspection team will inspect the building condition to make sure that the building is fit for the business to carry on.
- The inspection team will also check if there is any building alteration or deviation. If there is any deviation with respect to the building is found, then the applicant will be asked to apply for a new licence.
- A report will be created after verification and this report will be submitted to the respective licensing authority.
- Based on the outcome of the above report and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will take a decision on the renewal of this licence.
- The status, viz. Approval or Rejection (if any) will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS or by post or through phone call.
- On approval, the applicant shall visit the concerned office with the original licence and pay the requisite fee. The issuing authority will make necessary endorsement on the original licence for renewal or a renewed licence as per norms will be prepared.
- The licence will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued as per applicable norms.
- Note:
- If any addition or alteration is made to the building before the date of the expiry of the period of the licence, or if such addition or alteration is made in respect of any portion of a building connected with that lodging, such building shall not continue to be used as a lodging unit until a fresh application has been made and a fresh licence has been granted.
- Applicant has to bring original documents while applying for cross verification purpose.
- Without cross signature on photograph and signature on undertaking, the application will be rejected.
- The competent authority has the discretion to refuse the licence if the applicant is not a suitable person.

- A treasury receipt / demand draft for prescribed fee amount
- Applicant proof of address (Ration card / Bank pass book / Telephone bill / Aadhaar card)
- Applicant proof of identity (Voter ID / Passport / Aadhaar card / Driving licence)
- Copy of licence
- If authorized person is applying, then authentication letter
- Affidavit to the effect that no “FIR” has been lodged against the authorization renewed for
- ”NOC” from gram panchayat/municipal council to run the lodging
- Copy of trade tax receipt
- Copy of tariff card (for the current financial year)
- Proof of ownership/tenancy/lease of premises of the Establishment
- Notarized copy of “NOC” from the owner of the premises
- Rent agreement / “NOC” of landlord, if the premises is rented / leased one
- Local body licence (building permit)
- Fire safety permission
- PAN of the proprietor/company/firm
- Affidavit on stamp paper of Rs 10/- (or as per the advised amount) by the applicant duly notarized
- Aadhaar card
- Passport size photograph of the applicant (3 numbers) as per requirement

- Please get all the documents duly attested by a gazetted officer.
- Apart from the above documents, authorities may ask for additional information or documents. Please provide them for processing.

Eligibility
- A valid licence holder is eligible to apply for this licence.
- Applicant should apply for renewal of lodging licence three months prior to the date of expiry of the validity of licence.
- The renewal may be suspended if it appears,
- That such licence has been obtained by misrepresentation or fraud, or
- That the licensee has been contravened or failed to comply with any of the provisions of the respective government or the rules made thereunder or any of the terms or conditions of the licence, or
- That the public building (lodging unit) can no longer be safely used for the purpose for which the licence was granted.

Validity
- The renewed licence is valid for a year or as notified on the licence.
- Licence needs to be renewed annually or as per the time period mentioned on the certificate.

Processing Time
- The whole process shall be completed within 15 days to one month from the receipt of the application.

Instructions
- For successful renewal, make sure that the said building is not in a ruinous state, or that there is no reason to apprehend imminent danger to life or property.
- Please maintain high standards of hygiene to avoid spread of infections and diseases.
- Please follow the guidelines fixed by your state for the size of the premises and zones meant for starting this business.
- There will be sudden check by the civic agencies, fire and safety authorities.
- Do not submit fake documents as a proof to get this licence renewed.
- Incomplete application will be rejected.
- Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.
- Applicant will be penalized if any information provided by the applicant while applying for this renewal is being found false or incorrect.

Need for the Document
- A valid police licence is required to operate a lodging business. The lodging licence needs to be renewed before the lapse of the validity to run the lodging business legitimately.
- Lodges are public places. It is necessary for all the lodges to maintain a proper data of all guests who are visiting the lodge. The police department use to monitor the day-to-day ledger maintained for the police inspection. The renewal of the lodging licence is mandatory to get these business units under their radar.
- No lodging business shall operate without proper licence from police department.
- Please follow government’s announcement to avoid unnecessary actions for not following the policy.
- The applicant should ensure that his/her e-mail ID and mobile number are correctly filled, as all updates/status regarding the application will be communicated through e-mail and “SMS”.
- NOTE:
It is a punishable offence to try with fraudulent documents to get this licence.
