1. To apply for wiremen certification by the Government Electrical Inspectorate, applicants will need to submit an application at the head office of the Electrical Inspectorate (address provided below). Applicants from Tobago are also required to apply at the head office in Trinidad.
2. An application is available at the office.
3. Submit the completed form along with other required documents and fees.
4. Applications are usually processed within seven working days. The Office will assess the documents submitted and invite the applicants to take an examination.
5. The results are reviewed and the candidates are interviewed by a representative of the Electrical Inspectorate.
6. Successful applicants are contacted and are required to pick up their licence in person from the head office. The entire process can be completed within a two-month period.

• Completed Application Form for a Wireman's Licence (can be obtained form the Office of the Electrical Inspectorate)
• Three current passport-sized photographs.
• National Identification Card.
• Valid Driver's Permit.
• BIR File Number (income tax file number).
• Technical certificates such as a City and Guilds Diploma, National Examination Council (NEC).
• Certificate or Engineering Degree.
• Wireman's licence number (for renewals).
• Two letters of recommendation from licensed wiremen or current and previous employers.

A fee of TT$100.00 is to be paid upon submission of your application. Note that payments can be made between the hours of 8:30 am and 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday, except public holidays.

The Wireman's Licence is valid for two years and must be renewed at the end of this period.
