The cost of your TN ID card will depend on how long it is valid for.

The standard cost for a new or renewed Tennessee expiring ID license is:

• $5 for 2 years, if youre under 18 years old.
• $9.50 for 5 years, if youre 18 years old or older.

An Identification Card is valid for five years. The Tennessee Department of Safety will issue you an ID card that expires on your next birthday that is divisible by 5 (e.g. 20, 25, 30, 35 years old, etc.).

• There are two types of ID Cards for US Citizens.
• You can apply for an expiring identification card at any age if you are a Tennessee resident without a drivers license.
• You can apply for a permanent identification license that does not expire if you are a Tennessee resident with a mental or physical disability. It is free and you can apply at any age.
