1. Go to the county clerk office.
2. Present and submit documents required.
3. Complete the application form.
4. Pay the marriage license fee.

For 18 years old and above

• proof of Social Security Number (Social Security Card or Driver License containing SSN)
• any of the following:
  • state certified birth certificate
  • driver license
  • state Issued ID
• Passport and American Visa(for aliens)
• Resident Alien Card(for aliens)

For 16 and 17 years old

• proof of Social Security Number (Social Security Card or Driver License containing SSN)
• any of the following:
  • state certified birth certificate
  • driver license
  • state Issued ID
• Passport and American Visa(for aliens)
• Resident Alien Card(for aliens)

Marriage License Fee: $93.50 - $99.50

The marriage license is valid for 30 days and marriage may be performed outside Tennessee.

• For minor applicants, the parents or guardians of the bride and groom must accompany them when applying for the marriage license.
• A custodial parent must bring custody papers (if applicable) to show proof of custody.
• An underage application, which includes a three-day waiting period, is required unless waived by a Court of Record or the County Mayor.

• applicant's number of prior marriages
• date last marriage ended (if applicable)
