In Person

1. Go to a Driver Service Center.
2. Present a primary and secondary proof of identification.
3. Have your photo taken.
4. Pay the applicable fees.
5. Once you meet all of the requirements, youll receive a temporary license immediately; your permanent duplicate license will arrive in the mail.

Online

1. Go to their State of Tennessee Online Driver Services.
2. Choose the kind of online service you want to avail.
3. Provide your TN driver's license or ID card number, TN address and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.
4. Pay the fees via credit card.
5. Once done, print the confirmation page to use as a temporary license. This temporary license will remain valid for 20 days from the date of the transaction.
6. You will receive your permanent duplicate within 20 business days.

• You must report to the law enforcement agency in the area where the loss or theft occurred, as well as with your own local agency (if different).
• You can apply for a replacement TN drivers license or ID in person or online.
• If youre within 12 months of expiration, you can renew your license instead of replacing it; if youre within 6 months of expiration, you must renew instead of replace.

To fill in the gap of time that you lose your license, you need to file a Duplicate Drivers License. By applying for this kind of license, you will be free of the hassle that is attached to having no drivers license at all.
