Apply In-Person :

1. Transfer of vehicle registration from one state to another state happens whenever the vehicle is sold to a person in another state Or If the owner himself settles in a new state.
2. The main document for this purpose is NOC from the home state RTO. (Please check with local RTO whether NOC is required before processing)
3. In order to transfer vehicle from another state, Applicant has to apply and get NOC as stated above from their home state RTO
4. With the NOC in hand the applicant can approach the RTO for his area to do this procedure.

7. Application in Form-27 (in duplicate if it is with HP) : Form Link
8. Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
9. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
10. Present the completed application forms along with documents in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
11. Pencil tracing of engine chassis number is the activity to record the chassis number against the registration number in the RTO register
12. Authorities will inspect the vehicle and announce the registration number
13. After necessary verification, the applicant is given a token of receipt for the period till he receives the RC
14. The Vehicle Registration Certificate is issued to the applicant within one month
    

Apply through state portal

1. Application for transferring vehicle registered in another state can be made through State Online Portal
2. Click on the “Click here to book online slot” option.
3. The applicant will be redirected to a new page.
4. Please click the “Reassignment of Vehicle” link that is displayed under the “Registration” section of the page.
5. Click on the “Slot Booking” option and follow the instructions on the page.
6. Finally clicking on the “I Agree” option.
7. In the next screen presented, fill in the mandatory details and request for OTP. Enter the Captcha.
8. In the next page, you have to choose the day and time that you are planning to visit the RTO office related to the application and click “Next” button that is displayed on the bottom of the screen.
9. Please follow the instructions that are displayed in the following pages for filling the application forms and making payments and uploading required documents.
10. Take printout of the application form including acknowledgement and go to RTO office before 11:30 a.m. on the date of appointment and Present the completed application forms along with required documents in one of the counters and pay the appropriate fees.

• The certificate of insurance
• The certificate of pollution under control
• PAN card in case of 4-wheeler

• In case of non-transport vehicles like two wheelers and cars, the registration certificate is valid for 15 years from the date of first registration and it is renewed after every five subsequent years.
• In case of transport vehicles like goods and passenger carriers the registration certificate is valid till certificate of fitness is valid.

• The transfer of registration of a vehicle is to be applied in the concerned motor vehicle (RTO) office where the vehicle is to be re-registered.

• Purpose is to establish clear ownership and to tax motorist or vehicle owners.

• In case of vehicle registered outside the state, the transferor (seller) should report the fact of transfer within 45 days of the transfer to the concerned registering authority.
• FC (for clearance) is a process meant for reviewing the condition of the vehicle registered
