Tanzania - Renew Driver License


Procedure

How to apply:

  1. Gather all the required documents and head to the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) offices branch near you.
  2. Approach the service desk and request for the application form, read through the instruction carefully and fill it accurately and submit it with the required documents to the attending official
  3. The TRA official will verify and process all the documents, your biometric information will be taken on site i.e. finger prints and photograph
  4. You will be issued with a payment slip for the application fee, head to any designated bank of your choice and make the payment
  5. After that, you need to go to the police station, traffic department (Department of Traffic) with a car, pay the test driving fee and do a test drive on passing the driver’s test,
  6. The traffic police driver inspector will then provide a document/report on your driving skill assessment that you will return it to TRA
  7. If all the information are in order and the application fees is paid you will be issued your driving licence by the TRA within 3 days.

Instructions

  • Driving with an expired drivers licences or without a driver’s licences is a criminal offences as stipulated by the Tanzania law. It shall lead to a motorist being fine or arrested by the traffic police on which the law court may imprison or fine you or both

  • Date of birth of the applicant
  • Residential address
  • Date of issued/place of the expired licences
  • Nationality of the applicant (foreigners)
  • Phone number/email address
  • TIN Number of the applicant
  • Class of driver’s licences
  • Assessment drivers report from the traffic police

It is a legal requirement for all motorist in Tanzania to have a valid driver’s licences to enable drivers to drive legally in Tanzania.
