Apply In-Person:

1. To change name of newspaper, the applicant has to visit the Ministry of Information, Tourism, Culture and Sports contact link
2. Applicant should provide all the information that is requested in the application form.
3. Applicant should make sure to carry both photocopies and originals of all the documents that are needed for completing this procedure.
4. Documents that are needed for completing this procedure are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Applicant must attach both photocopies and originals of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form before submitting it at the office.
6. Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
7. If all these procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the changing of name will be provided within 1-2 days.
8. If there is no information provided by the concerned authorities, the applicant can visit the office to know the status of their application.

• Any existing newspaper in Tanzania who is willing to change the name of their newspaper is eligible for this procedure.

• Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.

• Changing name of the newspaper is valid forever.

• Applicant must complete the application form before submitting it at the office. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

• Old name of the newspaper
• New name of the newspaper
• Reason for changing the name
• Date of the application
• Signature

• This document is necessary for legally changing the newspaper name in Tanzania.

• The change of name is provided under “The Newspaper Regulations” (Regulation No. 17 (2), 1997) in Tanzania.
