Apply In-Person:

1. Application form for changing name in Tanzania is available in the Zanzibar Business and Property Registration Agency, Tanzania contact link
2. Applicant must provide all necessary information in the application form.
3. Applicant should make sure to carry all needed documents as photocopies and originals.
4. Documents that are required for completing this procedure are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Applicant must attach photocopies of needed documents along with the application form while submitting it at the office.
6. Fee for this procedure is TZS 80,000/-
7. If all above-mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the document will be issued within 14-21 days.
8. Applicant will be notified regarding their application within 14-21 days through SMS or Email.
9. After getting the notification from concerned authorities, applicant can visit the office to collect their document.
10. If there is no information regarding the document is provided by concerned authorities, then, the applicant can visit the office to know status of the application.

• This document is necessary for legally having ownership over a property or bond.

• If a married person wishes to change their name, approval from their spouse is also necessary.
• For avoiding any confusion, an applicant must start using the new name immediately.
