Tanzania - Apply for a Deed Poll (Change Name)

Apply In-Person:

  1. For getting deed poll (changing the name) the applicant should visit the Zanzibar Business and Property Registration Agency, Tanzania contact link
  2. The applicant should provide all the information that are requested in the application form.
  3. The applicant must have all the documents (photocopies and originals) whichever is necessary for completing this procedure.
  4. Documents that are needed for completing this procedure is mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant must attach photocopies and originals of all the documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form before submitting them at the office.
  6. The fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
  7. If all these procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the change of name will be done within a stipulated period of time.
  8. If there is no information regarding the changing of name is provided, the applicant can visit the office to know the status of their application.

  • Written letter stating the reason for changing of name (Deed poll)
  • Passport Size photographs of the person (to whose name the document is getting changed) – 2
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Consent of Spouse / Parents
  • Proof of Payment receipts
