Apply In person

1. To Apply for Student Visa in person, the applicant has to approach the Ghana Visa Application Centre (VAC) or Ghana immigration service office -Contact link
2. Then, the applicant must obtain the application form from Ghana Visa Application Centre (VAC) or Ghana immigration service office.
3. Fill up the application form. Do not forget to affix the applicant right thumb print and sign the form.
4. Submit the completed application form along with all other required documents in person to the nearest Immigration office in the applicant locality and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
5. Ask the Immigration officer-in-charge to examine all submitted documents and check to see if the application form was duly completed. Inspection of documents must be done in his/her presence.
6. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
7. Between the immigration office and the visa office his/her application will be processed for issue.
8. The visa Office shall inform his/her in writing in case there are any queries regarding him/her application.
9. His/her visa shall be ready for pick up within 30 days upon submission of the application form and all other required documents.
10. Collect the applicant visa in person from the District or Regional Immigration Office in his/her region.
11. Affix his/her signature on the passport in the presence of the immigration officer when applicants collect his/her Student Visa.
12. Generally, the processing time for this procedure is 15 days.

• A foreigner who wishes to study from Ghana and has been enrolled in an institution is eligible to apply for a student visa.

• Students (Entry Visa for students who are not nationals of East African Cooperation.) US$ 100.

• A student’s visa validity depends on the duration you apply for a maximum period of one year then renewable after that.

• Student visa is the one which allows its holder to study at an institution of higher learning in the issuing country in this case Ghana.

It is important to note that: -

• A visa in your passport does not guarantee entry. That remains the right of the immigration officials in Ghana.
• A student Visa does not permit gainful or voluntary employment in Ghana.
• After the completion of course, a student cant his / her extend your stay.
• Arrival / departure declaration cards are available at the arrival lounge.
• Sometimes you may be required to provide additional documents.
• Carefully read through your interview appointment letter.
• Dressing is very important on Visa interviews just as it is for all interviews.
• Carry all required documents that may have been asked for in the interview appointment letter.
• Photos should be attached to the application form by use of glue stick. Stapling and clipping the photo to the application form is not advisable.
