Farmers of Tamil Nadu could apply for Small/Marginal Farmer Certificate through the following procedure.
Apply In-Person

1. To apply for a Small/Marginal Farmer Certificate, one has to visit the Taluk Office or VAO Office of your area.
2. To find the office locations and contacts, select your district from the link. In the district webpage, select > Directory > Contact Directory >Districts
3. Before applying, please consult with the concerned authority regarding all the requirements necessary for obtaining the certificate.
4. Procure the prescribed application form to apply for this service. Applicant has to pay for the Application form if required.
5. In the procured application form, fill all the required details.
6. Attach the photocopy of all the required documents with the application form.
7. Submit the documents to the concerned authority and pay the required fee.
8. Receive the acknowledgement receipt and keep it safe for further reference.
9. Visit the respective office to get your certificate after the processing time allotted by the officials during the time of application.
   
   

Apply Online - Obtain Small or Marginal Farmer Certificate Online with Images

1. To apply online for a Small/Marginal Farmer Certificate, visit the link: Apply Online
2. Click on login button. New page will open. Login with your details or if you are a new user, register a new account by selecting, “New User? Sign Up Here”. Fill your details and click on "Signup”.
3. Now log in with your credentials. And choose Services>Department wise>Revenue Department.
4. From the given list of services, select “REV-117 Small / Marginal Farmer Certificate”.
5. Read all the given instructions and click on “Proceed”.
6. Enter your CAN number or search your CAN number with the given options.
7. Fill all the required details in the displayed application form.
8. Upload the scanned copies of all the required documents.
9. Check for any corrections to be made before submitting the form. Submitted forms cannot be altered.
10. Pay the required processing fee for which you will receive the online receipt.
11. After successful submission of your application, you will receive the acknowledgement message through sms.
12. Your application will be further processed and you will be notified through sms if your application gets rejected.
13. If your application is accepted your certificate will be ready within the processing time. You could check the status or download the certificate from the “Check Status” Option available in the dashboard of your account.

• Farmers who own land area less of than 4.94 Acres could get the small/marginal farmer certificate.

• The service could be availed by paying the application fee of Rs.60.

• The Government has allotted certain schemes such as loans, subsidy for crops cultivated exclusively for small/marginal farmers.
• Obtaining a Small/Marginal Farmer Certificate helps the farmers to make use of such government schemes.

Some of the schemes for small/ marginal farmers:

• Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana- Under this scheme, farmers are provided Rs. 6,000 per year as a minimum income support PM Kisan
• Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan yojana- Under this scheme, farmers are provided minimum pension of Rs 3000 / month on attaining the age of 60 PMKMY Site
