1. In order to change the family head name in the ration card, the applicant shall approach their respective ration shop or Assistant Commissioner (AC) / Taluk Supply Officers (TSO) in their respective area as applicable.
2. Link for contact link AND link for district Select district option from the left part of the screen. In the given page, please select the name of the district to reach the respective district page. Here, select the hyperlink for respective portal. In the district portal please select “DIRECTORY > PUBLIC UTILITIES >Municipalities “ or “DIRECTORY > Contact Directory” or “ABOUT DISTRICT > ADMINISTRATIVE SETUP > Revenue Administration” option for contact details.
3. Go to the respective office and collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
4. Complete the application form. Attach the required documents as per our “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it to the designated receiving authority.
5. Authorities after checking the submitted application along with attached documents will make entries and provide you record number for reference.
6. Keep it safe for future reference.
7. This application will be processed further to issue the ration card with updated family head name as per notified period.
8. The ration card will be delivered as per applicable norms.

Apply Online

1. Please use the following link to reach the online portal link
2. In the new page, please use the “Family Head Member Change” option provided on the right part of the screen under “SMART CARD RELATED SERVICES” to reach “Login” page.
3. User shall enter their registered mobile number at the prompted space under “Mobile Number *”, enter the captcha as appropriate and click the “Submit” button to receive an “OTP” in their registered mobile number.
4. Please enter this received “OTP” at prompted space as appropriate and click the “Submit” button.
5. A new screen will be provided with the respective ration card details. Please select “New request” option in the top right corner to get a new screen.
6. Here, select “Family Head Member Change” option from the dropdown list provided under “Select Service *” to reach a page with respective card details.
7. Please use the “Upload” button provided under the existing family head photo of the card and use the new family head person’s photo from your local drive.
8. Once the photo is updated, please provide your reason for changing the family head in your ration card under “Reason”.
9. Now select your applicable document from the dropdown list under “Document type”, click the “Choose File” button to select the respective file from your local drive and click the “Upload” button.
10. Please select the checkbox for “I accept terms….” Option and click the “Submit” button to apply online.
11. Applicant gets acknowledgement for the submitted application. Keep it safe for future reference.
12. This application gets processed by the respective department.
13. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile and please follow as per the notification to get the card.

• For implementation of the Targeted Public Distribution System(TPDS), Ration Card is being issued to all the heads of families, with details about family members included in the card. In some states, the government grants financial sanctions and other benefits to the woman family head as per ration card. To avail those benefits, the family head in the ration card need to be changed from respective husband to wife.

• Citizens holding ration card should apply for change of address as and when their place of residence is changed to make use of the ration card as a vital proof of residence.
• Ration card is essential to apply for passport, PAN card or a domicile certificate or to even get the name registered for electoral rolls to get a Voter ID.
