To provide financial support to the poor widows of India, the widow pension scheme was introduced in India. A widow whose household is below the poverty line is eligible to get the benefits of pension scheme.
Apply In-Person :

1. To apply for Destitute Widow Pension Scheme, you have to visit the Tahsildar / Special Tahsildar Revenue Department.

3. Get the application form from the Concerned Officer or write it on an A4 sheet.
4. Fill the application form with all the necessary details.
5. Attach all the Required Documents as mentioned in the Required Documents section along with the form and submit it to the concerned officer in the Revenue Department.
6. Pay the appropriate fees as per authorities quote.
7. You will be given an acknowledgement keep it safe for future reference.
8. Now the authorities will verify your application and validate the submitted documents.
9. If sanctioned, beneficiary shall be issued a Pension Passbook.

1. To apply for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme,visit the Tahsildar / Special Tahsildar Revenue Department.

• BPL Status Certificate (verifiable through Ration card)

  • Bank Passbook with Photo (Kisan Photo Passbook also valid)
  • PAN Card issued by Income Tax Department

Eligibility of Destitute Widow Pension Scheme:

• No age limit.
• Must have no source of Income.
• Must not be professional beggars Pensions is given in spite of having legal heirs of above 18 years of age.
• Must not possess property of value more than Rs.5,000/-.
• Instead of getting reports regarding the pension given to the widows from Village Administrative officers and Revenue Inspectors, copy of resolution of Village Panchayat/Town Panchayat may be submitted Assistance will not be given if remarried.

Eligibility to apply for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS):

• She Should be a widow
• She should be 40 years and above
• Belonging to below poverty line family
• Without any income or source of income owning fixed assets valuing less than Rs.50000/- who have no relative of 18 years of age and over of the following category son, son’s son and other related persons who normally live together.

• It is valid forever.
