1. Go to the Motor Vehicles Office.
2. Submit the required documents.
3. Fill in the application form.
4. Pay the necessary fee.

• I.D. card (both parties)
• Two copies of the automobile or motorcycle registration letter signed and sealed by both parties.
• The driving permit.
• Owner copy of the new license plate registration certificate held by the previous owner (exempt for motorcycles)
• Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance certificate issued under the name of the newly registered owner.

It is applicable to those vehicle owners who wish to sell their vehicles in Taiwan.

Driving permit:

• Automobile (trailer) - $200
• Motorcycle - $150

Motorcycle owners shall pay the fuel tax for two consecutive years upon expiration of the driving permit.

• The applicant must settle any outstanding taxes (including taxes for the current period) and fines prior to applying.
• The automobiles must pass the inspection first if overdue for an inspection.
• All vehicles which are older than 10 years must pass the on-site inspection first.
• The applicant must cancel the pledge for any pledge vehicles prior to applying.

If a person wants to sell his vehicle, it is mandatory to transfer the license plate of his vehicle to the new owner.
