2.) Fill up and submit the application form along with a recent photo of you. Do not forget to attach the proof of permanent residence.

4.) Once you have submitted all required documents and have paid the fee, they will now begin processing the renewal of your driving license.

If you are a permanent resident of a country outside the European Economic Area

• Renewal Form
• A document showing that you are a permanent resident of a country outside the EEA. (Note: This form must be attached to the application for renewal of license.)
• Recent Photo - It is important that the photo is of good quality and follow these instructions:
  • The photo submitted in a copy and will be good likeness.
  • The face will be imaged directly in front of his face visible.
  • Both eyes should be completely visible and the pupils should be clearly visible. Must look at the camera.
  • The photograph should have good clarity. The focus should be in the pupil. Reflectors are not seen in glasses.
  • You may not have dark or colored glasses.
  • You may not have any headgear or similar.
  • The face should be evenly lit and the background should be light and no shadows.
  • The whole head is visible, not just the face.
  • Interpupillary distance and POINT OF THE CHIN should be 14-17 mm.
  • The photograph should be renskuret 35 mm wide, 45 mm high and have rounded or sharp corners.
  • Both black and white photos and color photos are approved. On the final license will be the photograph that is reproduced in black and white even though color photo submitted.

If you need to renew your Swedish driving license but lives abroad, different rules applies depending on which country you live.

• If you are a permanent resident of a country outside the European Economic Area, you can renew your Swedish license.
• If you are a permanent resident of another country within the European Economic Area, you do not renew your Swedish license. The license will instead be replaced by a license in the country where you are a permanent resident.

Your residence in a State shall be deemed to be permanent, if you are staying at least 185 days each calendar year:

1. Because of personal and occupational ties,or
2. Because of personal ties (close bond between person and the place where you live).

If you are staying in several places (in two or more states) due to professional extension in one and personal ties in another, the permanent place of residence is considered to be the place to which you have personal ties, provided that you regularly return there .

Attendance at a university or school shall not cause the permanent settlement changed.

Payment of Transport Agency fees

You should first use the pre-printed payment slip that Transport Agency provides, and specify the OCR number if the payment is done over internet. OCR (Optical Character Reading) is a series of numbers that are used to enable the payee to know who has paid a particular bill.

Please do not submit proof of your payment. We get information about your payment directly from the bank.

Have it printed payment card come away you will find, for certain fees, OCR number on the letter or form that un-joined.

Your driver's license must be renewed every ten years if you have a driver's license with jurisdiction AM, A1, A2, A, B or BE. If you have a license with higher permissions (C1, C1E, C, CE, D1, D1E, D, DE) license must be renewed every five years to remain valid.

Application forms for renewal of licenses from abroad are not sent automatically to your listed address. Application forms are available in Swedish embassies and consulates. You can also order application forms from the Transport Agency's customer service.
