Sweden - Apply National Identity Card for Children and Adolescents


Procedure

  1. Go to the passport office to apply for a national ID card.
  2. Fill in the application form.
  3. Submit the form along with all other required documents.
  4. Have the photo of the applicant taken.
  5. Pay the fee.


Retriving the national identity card.
  • Guardians will be the one to pick up the national identity card for young people under 18 years. Those aged 15 years or over can fetch his/her own national identity card provided there is a permission granted by the guardian and this is properly communicated to the passport officers during the application process. Make sure that the one picking up the ID can show approved identification documents.





Required Documents

  • Written consent from all guardians. (The written consent must be dated and must not be older than one month.)
  • National Identity Card of the guardian
  • Document certifying the placement of the applicant under the care of a foster home, please be informed that this document does not replace the need to present a written consent of the person or persons who have custody. The application may be accomplished by the present foster parent.

Instructions

  • The signature on the consent form must be witnessed by another adult with the exemption of the other guardian. Passport staff may act as witness to the signatures of both guardians, if a valid Swedish ID number is provided.
  • The consent form may be dowloaded from the Police Website or obtained from the nearest police station or passport office.
  • Contact the passport office in advance to inform the office that the other guardian does not reside in Sweden making it difficult to appear personally during the application process.
