1.When a permit has expired and the applicant wishes to add a class on his drivers license as he renews it, he / she starts the renewing procedure by doing a road driving test. The applicant goes finds an authorized driving test examiner who conducts the test and in this case the examiner assess the knowledge applicant about the rules of the road, about authorized road or highway and knowledge about recognized road signals and road signs; and further the examiner assesses the physical fitness of applicant to drive a motor vehicle of desired additional class; Note: An applicant who does not wish to add a class on to his / her driving license ignores the above step (1) and starts with the following step (2).

2.Thereafter the applicant obtained the prescribed application form for renewal of permit from the authority, he / she fills it accurately and submits together with required documents to the issuing authority and makes any necessary payments;

3.After submission he is notified on when to collect the permit

• An applicant must have passed the test of competence in line with the class of license being applied for and must have proof;
• Any person who applicant is rejected may appeal in court;
• Applicants are advised to renew an expired permit as soon as he / she can as no person is allowed to drive a vehicle on the road without a valid permit;
• A driver cannot hold more than one driving license but different classes can be endorsed in one driving license;
• In cases where changes have been made in any documents and may affect issuance of permit, the applicant must inform the registrar of the changes;
• Acting contrary to the laws relating to driving is punishable by the law;
• Applications should be made in person;
• Submitted applications forms must be signed by the applicant

A driving license and an authorization document that permits a driver to drive a vehicle on the road. Issuing of drivers license is controlled by the government through the Commissioner for Interior who upon recommendation from the Inspector General of Police appoints a Director for the Directorate of Traffic who among the duties he / she has is issuing drivers licenses.

1.Applicants must know that an issued license may be cancelled by the registrar upon application by any police officer not below the rank of Lt. Colonel if he / she is able to prove to the registrar that:-

• the holder of license has a disease / disability that is likely to cause danger while the person drives a vehicle;
• the holder does not have sufficient knowledge about driving
