• Apply for a South Dakota operator License at any exam station within the state.
• Take the necessary vision, knowledge and driving test.
• When you have successfully completed all required testing, your photograph will be taken and you will be issued a operator license.

If you have never held a South Dakota or out-of-state driver license, you will have to provide the following documents: proof of your identity (if your name is different than the name on your identity document, you will need to bring additional proof of your legal name), date of birth, and lawful status, proof of your Social Security number, and two documents to prove your principle address.
