Apply through email

1. To apply for Validating Foreign National Pilot License through email, the applicant has to lodge the applications through email address of the South African Civil Aviations Authority.

3. Download the Application for Validation Of Foreign National Pilot Licence by clicking the following link: Link
4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. Now, complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
6. Then, pay the applicable fees as directed to the relevant bank account. Find the information regarding payment in the office website or contact the office.
7. After paying the fees, make scanned copies of the required documents and the completed application form. Proceed to submit it through the following email address: updates@caa.co.za
8. Indicate the license number of the particular category that you are applying as the subject of the mail.
9. Then, the application will be forwarded to the concerned authorities for further verification processes.
10. Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the validation will be processed for issuance.
11. When the validation is ready to be collected, the applicant will be sent an SMS from the office and the applicant can collect it by themselves or arrange a courier service for collection.

• Any Foreign National Pilot License holder, who wants to avail the advantages of such license as Pilot In Command of a South African registered aircraft, shall apply.
• The applicant must comply with the relevant requirements and conditions mentioned in the section 62.01.15 (2) of the Civil Aviation Technical Standards (SA-CATS 63): Link

Validation process of a Foreign National Pilot license: R510.00.

The validation may be valid for a maximum period of twelve months from issued date or it may be synchronised with the license under the respective category.

It is mandatory to possess a validation if a foreigner with a valid National Pilot License who wants to practice the privileges of that license in a South African registered aircraft as a Pilot in Command.
