Apply through email

1. To apply for Validating Foreign Flight engineer License through email, the applicant has to lodge the applications through email address of the South African Civil Aviations Authority.

3. Download the Application for Validation Of Foreign Flight engineer Licence by clicking the following link: Link
4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. Now, complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Attest it with your signature once completed.
6. Then, pay the applicable fees as directed to the relevant bank account. Find the information regarding payment in the office website or contact the office.
7. After paying the fees, make scanned copies of the required documents and the completed application form. Proceed to submit it through the following email address: aircrewapplications@caa.co.za
8. Indicate the license number of the particular category that you are applying as the subject of the mail.
9. Then, the application will be forwarded to the concerned authorities for further verification processes.
10. Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the validation will be processed for issuance.
11. When the validation is ready to be collected, the applicant will be sent an SMS from the office and the applicant can collect it by themselves or arrange a courier service for collection.

• Any foreigner who holds a Flight engineer license, and wishes to act in a South African registered aircraft, can apply for a validation.
• The applicant must satisfy the constraints listed in the section 63.01.3(2) of the Civil Aviation Technical Standards: Link

• The validation process costs R760.00.
  

• The validation may be valid for a maximum period of twelve months from issued date or it may be synchronised with the license under the respective category.

• The applicant must ensure all the information sought in the application has been provided properly and all the attached documents are appropriately furnished in order to avoid rejections.

• If the space provided in the application form is not sufficient for the required information, the applicant must compile a separate memorandum for such information and attach it with the completed application form.

• Names and other relevant particulars of the applicant
• Address and contact details of applicant
• ID/Passport number of applicant
• Present employer name, capacity and contact details
• CAA reference number and license number
• Class of Medical Certificate and expiry date
• Country of issuance
• Aircraft type and valid ratings in possession
• Payment receipt number/Transaction ID
• Name of the signatory

• A person from any nationality other than the Republic of South Africa must obtain a Validation for his/her valid Flight engineer license to act as an Engineer in a registered aircraft within the Republic.
